Advice on coping with Parkinson's disease
My dad has Parkinson's and my mum found out that degenerative conditions like Parkinson's can lead to toxins building up in the liver. Now she gives him milk thistle tablets to help his body detox. They're £6.99 for 30 from Boots.

My palsy and inflexibility are worse first thing in the morning and I find it hard to get up, so I keep my morning pills and a glass of water by my bed. This means I can take a few minutes to adjust and perform a few stretches in bed.

My mother was first diagnosed with Parkinsons last year, however she had been increasingly deteriating for years, I had finally persuaded her to see her GP about 5 years ago. He gave her some basic mental tests and did nothing. If it hadn't been for the fact she fell over and broke her hip and arm 4 years ago she would never have seen a specialist of any kind. He first diagnosed her with Alzeimers but after watching her walking to his ofice a new scan was organised and correct diagonses finally made. Although NICE might make all these lovely requirements in practice they do not work. My mothers GP did not want to help she is after all 84 this year and might die soon so why have the added cost of her medications on his surgery. there must be quite a few doctors out there with this frame of mind as they are now a Business not really there for the common good any more. Does any one else have a similar story I would like to think that my poor olld mum is not alone and that her GP is apart from not being interested in his older patients one of a kind
