Coping with heavy periods

Coping with heavy periods
Average rating: 4 out of 5 star rating

The nearer I get to the menopause, the heavier my periods get. I'm booked in for a hysterectomy but while I'm waiting I take an iron supplement every day to make sure I don't get anaemic. Vega Iron Bisglycinate tablets don't make me constipated like some iron supplements (£4.95 for 30 tablets from www.expresschemist.co.uk).

Don't take aspirin for cramps, as it can make you bleed more. Ibuprofen is better. And keep a note of how heavy your periods are by writing down how long they last, how often you change your tampon, whether you bleed between periods or get any pelvic pain. It'll help your GP get at what's causing the heavy bleeding.
