Coping with rhinitis

Coping with rhinitis
Average rating: 3 out of 5 star rating

To stop me having problems with my rhinitis, I cover pillows and mattresses with plastic covers, use synthetic materials (eg a foam pillow) not animal products (eg a feather pillow) and have got rid of things that hold dust, like carpets or bedspreads.

Rhinitis makes me feel like I've got hayfever with a runny, itchy nose. I use Vicks Sinex (20ml for £3.48, www.mypharmacy.co.uk).

Deena, about 1 year

rhinitis makes me feel like I'm breathing in very dry air. My nasal passages become so dry and sore that I end up with shallow breathing. This is much worse at night. I wake up and cannot get back to sleep. So I end up getting up and having hot drinks. I am looking into the causes and might change my pillow to anti allergenic. My doctor prescribed hayfever spray but this made it worse.

used to swear by otrivine nasal spray until I was seen by ENT consultant who prescribed me a steroid nasal spray. I now use this with a saline nasal spray when the rhinitis is bad
