Average rating: 4 out of 5 star rating

'Scalp ringworm is reaching epidemic proportions in some inner city areas. The T-tonsurans variant now accounts for over 90 per cent of occurrences in the UK. Treatment for this type of ringworm is in the form of a medication that is taken orally, and may be supplemented with a shampoo or cream. To control the spread of the disease from child to child, individual instances need to be diagnosed and treated as promptly as possible. It is not simply a case of a few flakes that will disappear with time, this condition can require a child to take time off school and the loss of hair can cause emotional upheaval too.'
Dr Colin Holden, dermatologist at the British Skin Foundation
