Expert advice on psoriasis

Nish Joshi, holistic practitioner, the Joshi Clinic, on psoriasis
Average rating: 3 out of 5 star rating

'Follow a simple eating plan and initially avoid acidic foods such as orange or grapefruit juice, tea or coffee, alcohol, sugar, processed foods, dairy products and preservatives. If you don't want to use steroid creams, try an ayurvedic herbal cream made from the neem tree. It is antiseptic, antifungal and antibacterial, and you can buy it from most good health food stores.

One great treatment is ultraviolet light, in particular UVB rays, which slow down cell multiplication. But take care if you are fair- or red-haired, or if your skin does not tan easily, and use a good sunscreen. Some hospitals and clinics can administer UVB treatment or UV light therapy, ask your doctor.'
