Expert advice on mouth ulcers
'There are two common causes of mouth ulcers. Accidental damage is often responsible, and they usually last for about a week. The other common type is an aphthous ulcer, which occurs when someone's feeling stressed or under the weather. These can take a couple of weeks to heal, and are likely to keep appearing until someone's feeling relaxed and well again.
Talk to your pharmacy team if you get lots of mouth ulcers. To help relieve the pain of a mouth ulcer, apply a gel such as Bonjela (£2.27) to the affected area. Always read the label before using this medicine.'
