Dr James Partridge, founder of Changing Faces, on burns and scalds

'When you look at your hand, you say, "that's mine". Whereas the thing about the face is when you look in the mirror you say, "that's me". The period of adjustment can be long and hard. It took four to five years in my case to come to terms with my new face, but now I like it and I wouldn't change it.'
Dr James Partridge, founder of Changing Faces, a charity for disfigured people
