Relapses of glandular fever
'Relapses can occur and can be triggered by a number of events, including viral infections. It could be that you've had a second viral infection that has re-triggered the process. It should be as manageable as the first one. Treatments are better now than they were 20 odd years ago, when you first had it. So go and see a specialist.'

Valerie Folkes, about 1 year
Both my daughters picked up glandular fever last year at ages 13 and 15. The older one, although obviously poorly, sailed through it and returned to school after two weeks. The younger daughter's symptoms were far more severe and over a period of three months had a terrible swollen puss filled throat, swollen glands throughout her body causing internal organ malfunctions, viral infection of her heart lining (hospital). Just when we thought the worst was over she then got scarlet fever (covered in bright red rash, high temperature, swollen glands again and was monitored by our GP daily. Over a period of twelve months she has had two relapses and in her words "this is getting rediculous". Glandular fever virus is carried by almost everyone. Some people are just carriers with no symptoms, some people have mild symptoms and others are very poorly. In response to Mr BARRY, an aircraft is the worst place to be because of the airflow system inside the plane. Everyone's breath is carried around and circulated.
