Consultant dermatologist, Dr Andrew Wright on eczema
'Many factors can play a part in eczema, such as dry skin, allergens, food intolerances and asthma, so a multi-faceted approach often works best. If house-dust mites are a trigger, avoid feather bedding and wash your duvet and pillows every few weeks. Vacuum mattresses regularly, and minimise the clutter in your bedroom to keep things clean. A laminate floor and wipeable blinds rather than curtains may also help. If the condition doesn't improve, ask your GP to refer you to a dermatologist.'
