I hate normal gyms full of skinny people but knew I needed to do more exercise. Then I read about Green Gyms. You go along for a day and work outdoors on a project with other people, like gardening or building something. You really work up a sweat and you feel like you've achieved something too. Find out if there's one in your area by logging onto www.bctv.org.uk.

I'm overweight and it's difficult for me to exercise which makes losing the weight even harder - it's a vicious cycle. Then I saw an article in a magazine about an exercise video called Fattitude. It's aimed at people who are very overweight so the exercises start off really gently. You can even do some of them sitting down. Now I do it three times a week and I've lost nearly a stone. It costs £14.99 from www.fattitude.co.uk.

Karen McAleese, about 1 year

Anything that looks like its a picnic, rather than real food usually goes down well with my kids - So quarter and de seed/core apples, pears etc and wrap in foil. Roll up low fat cooked meats and secure with a cocktail stick before wrapping picnic style. Make a banana split using grapes/ strawberries as the filling for the split before wrapping. Let your son go shopping and choose his own low fat yoghurts etc. Use colourful lunch bags. Get your son to help in the preparation - Allow him to think that he's in charge. Instruct whoever "keeps an eye on him" when you're not there NOT to allow him any junk. Offer a reward weekly for healthy eating. Keep a healthy eating chart. Involve him in games to encourage him to exercise - The new wii exercise is great. Hope this helps. Good luck Karen, Ireland
