goodtoknow says: Impetigo is a bacterial skin infection that's very common in small children, especially in hot humid weather. It is easily treated with antibiotics. It starts with small red spots, often on the face, which gradually blister and crust. See your GP as soon as possible if you think your child has impetigo. You will be given antibiotic cream or tablets which will quickly clear it up in around 10 days. Impetigo is highly contagious, so keep them off school, make sure they wash their hands frequently and don't share towels.

Grace Kerbyson, over 2 years

When I was threee I got imetigo, but because I didn't leave it alone it spreded and turned into streptacocus. I was rushed into hospital. I could hardly sit down on the potty it hurt so much. But I was lucky because my dad was there with me all the way through it. He's alway's been there for me and I thank him for being with me. Another time he was beside me was when I got constipated. And I have never forgotten what he said to me that time. "I'll be there, holding your hand." I am now ten, and I have done my first music exam. I was very nervous. and he was there. But last week I let him down. I feel really bad.
