goodtoknow says: Helicobacter Pylori (H. pylori) is one of the most common bacterial infections in the UK and the most common cause of stomach ulcers. Around 1 in 4 people will get H. pylori and of those, around 3 in 20 will develop an ulcer. This condition often has no symptoms, but unless treated, the infection won't go away. It can be diagnosed in various ways, including a stool test, a blood test and a 'breath' test. Nine out of 10 cases of H. pylori can be cured with a combination of medicines including two different antibiotics and antacids.
