Pemphigus Vulgaris
goodtoknow says: Pemphigus vulgaris is a serious blistering condition, similar to bullous pemphigoid, that makes the skin blister. It's a type of autoimmune disease, where the body mistakes itself as a foreign body and attacks itself. It tends to affect people of middle age and older and is extremely rare. The cause is unknown, but it is not infectious. The main symptoms are patches of itchy skin, usually on the arms, legs, armpits or groin. The usual treatment is to take steroid tablets, which reduce the blisters. If untreated, it can be fatal.
