Primary biliary cirrhosis
goodtoknow says: Primary biliary cirrhosis is a condition when the bile ducts in the liver are attacked by the body's own immune system. Common symptoms are itchiness and tiredness. It is a rare condition, but 90% of cases affect women, mostly between the ages of 30 and 60. It can sometimes lead to full cirrhosis (scarring of the liver). There is no cure for the disease, but it progresses very slowly and treatments aim to slow it down even further. In a few cases, a liver transplant is necessary.
