6. Eat a good breakfast.

Yes, yes, we're always being told to do this, but at this time of year, when you're busy, stressed and burning the candle at both ends, it's more important than ever.

Research shows that eating first thing in the morning helps to balance blood sugar levels, which control appetite and energy. This means that you are more likely to snack on unhealthy foods such as chocolate or crisps before lunch.

Eating breakfast also has long term health benefits. It can lower the risk of many different conditions, including obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes.

Try a bowl of wholegrain cereal or some wholemeal toast and get some fruit down you as well, even if it's just orange juice, or a smoothie.
