A big roast dinner

Will it work? Yes
Why? The meat contains Vitamin B, which is great for rebalancing your body. Roast potatoes contain Vitamin C, which will help the liver work better, and green veg, such as broccoli and cabbage is a good source of Vitamin E, which helps to detox the body. Just try to steer clear of too much oil, which will slow down the detox process.
Hangover cure rating: 5/5 - goodtoknow's favourite hangover cure - especially if you can get someone else to do the cooking. Get roast recipes

Painkillers

Will they work? Not really
Why not? We know that they're meant to cure the very thing you're suffering from, but your liver has to process a paracetamol and that's the organ that's struggling to cope with all the alcohol you pumped through it last night. Something like Resolve contains paracetamol, so be careful taking it. Painkillers like ibuprofen are also liable to irritate your stomach, so we reckon you should try something else.
Hangover cure rating: 1/5 - avoid them if you can.

Fizzy tablets/sachets

Will they work? Some will, some won't
Why? The fizzy bit will help to settle your stomach, but the other ingredients are what will really kill or cure. Some, like Berocca are packed with vitamins that will replace much of what you've lost through drinking. They also contain sugar and salt and, you have to drink them with water, so you're rehydrating while taking them. However, be wary of something like Resolve, which contains paracetamol, meaning your liver will have to work even harder to get rid of your hangover.
Hangover cure rating: 2.5/5 - great if you get the right one.

Can of cola

Will it work? No
Why not? The sugar in it will replace some of what your body lost the night before and stop you feeling wobbly, but it also contains caffeine, which has the opposite effect to what you want - it actually dehydrates you.
Hangover cure rating: 0/5 - although it's tempting, try to go for the healthier options, like fruit and water.

Hair of the dog

Will it work? No
Why not? In the short-term it does actually work, but only because your body stops thinking about the hangover and starts dealing with the new lot of alcohol in your body. Your hangover will return, and possibly worse than the first time around - not a good idea.
Hangover cure rating: 0/5 - Not worth it!

Sleep

Will it work? Yes
Why? Our suggestions may help you get over the worst of your hangover, but the most effective way of getting rid of a hangover is... time. So the longer you sleep, the less you'll have to put up with while you're awake.
Hangover cure rating: 5/5 - goodtoknow's other favourite hangover cure - just sleep through the pain.

GARRETT, about 1 year

ANOTHER TIP TO CURING A HANGOVER FOR YOUR BODY IS TAKING FOLIC ACID AND B1 VITAMINS IN THE MORNING. THEY HELP YOUR LIVER GET THE TOXINS OUT OF YOUR BODY RAPIDLY. THEY DON'T NECESSARILY SETTLE THE HANGOVER IMMEDIATELY, BUT THEY DO KEEP YOUR BODY HEALTHY AND GET THE TOXINS OUT QUICKER.
