Protect your back - trip or fall
It's easier than you think to fall or trip over and hurt your back, especially when the weather is wet and miserable.
Like any part of your body, bruises will appear on your back if you've hurt it. But just because you can't see any bruises, it doesn't mean there aren't any. Even if you don't land on your back or hit it, you could still have damaged your spine because it's connected to so many different parts of your body.
What to do
Over-the-counter painkillers should help. If you feel as if your back is swollen, then choose a painkiller with an anti-inflammatory to help reduce swelling, like ibuprofen.
Some people may also find a heat pack or hot water bottle soothing, but if you have just fallen, the best thing to do is use an ice-pack because this will also help reduce any swelling.
