Drinking wine could double risk of breast cancer
Drinking just two large glasses of wine every day, could increase your chances of getting breast cancer by 50%, according to a new study.
The research, carried out by the University of Chicago, studied 185,000 women over seven years and found a clear link between drinking booze and contracting one of the most common forms of breast cancer.
Even drinking just one large glass of wine could increase the chances of getting the disease increase by a third.
It is thought that alcohol makes it more difficult to break down the hormone oestrogen, which can encourage the growth of breast cancer.
Whilst a family history of breast cancer along with a woman's age are still the main two factors that impact on the likelihood of getting the disease, it is clear that lifestyle choices could also be playing a large part.
