Average rating: 3 out of 5 star rating

What is it?
It is a therapy that works on the spine to prevent and heal medical problems.

How does it work?
All the body's functions are co-ordinated by the brain and nervous system which is supported by the spine, because it holds the main nerve, the spinal cord. Chiropractors move the spine around to heal the rest of the body.

What conditions can it treat?
It's particularly good for back pain, joint pain and nerve disorders and arthritis but some people enjoy going to see a chiropractor just to feel well again.

Can I have it on the NHS?
Sometimes, yes. Some doctors are able to refer you to an NHS chiropractor or they might refer you to an occupational therapist instead and he/she can recommend or refer you to a chiropractor.

How much does it cost?
It can be quite expensive to see someone privately - costs vary but are around £40-£80 per session.

Where can I go to get treatment and find out more information?
Speak to your GP or visit General Chiropractic Council
