Alzheimer's miracle drug

Alzheimer's miracle drug | Breakthrough in Alzheimer's research

A new drug has been developed in the UK that can halt the progression of Alzheimer's disease and it's said to be twice as effective as anything else currently available.

The drug, known as Rember, has been found to stop the mental decline of patients with Alzheimer's by as much as 81%.

When tested on patients who had early signs of the disease, few showed signs of getting significantly worse when taking Rember every day over a 19-month period. Scientists hope that development of the drug will mean that it could also reverse symptoms as well as halt the decline.

This breakthrough is said to be the biggest in over a 100 years and the tablets should be widely available within the next four years - hopefully on the NHS.
