Concern for Jade as cancer spreads
Big Brother star Jade Goody underwent an 8-hour hysterectomy operation this weekend in an attempt to battle the cervical cancer she was diagnosed with last month.
Despite the operation going well, surgeons discovered that the cancer had spread further than they thought, into a muscle behind Jade's womb. This finding indicates that the mum of two has 'Stage 3 cancer', which lowers her chances of remission to 50% from 95.
The reality TV star, who was diagnosed with cancer during her time in the Indian Big Brother house, will now undergo a course of radiotherapy and chemotherapy to try and beat the disease.
In an interview with The Sun, Jade spoke of her upset at never being able to have a little girl as a result of her hysterectomy. She also explained her decision not to tell her sons about her condition as 'they are too young to understand.'
The reality TV star has previously been tested for bowel cancer in 2006 and ovarian cancer in 2004 and was given the all-clear both times.
Around 2,800 women a year are diagnosed with cervical cancer and most cases develop in women in their 30s and 40s.
Regular screening tests are the best way to prevent it and early diagnosis means the survival rate is very good.

Funny how this ties in perfectly with the launch of your new book, perfume and TV show. Anyone would think you and Max Clifford had manipulated the story. Not me though, I think you're better than Mother Theresa. Brave Jade, just doing it for her kids.
