Nervy night
Question
Every night, I wake up with pins and needles and pains in my hands and forearms. It's ruining my sleep - what's going on? Tatania, 48
The answer
It's most likely carpal tunnel syndrome - pressure on a nerve in your wrist. Wearing a wrist splint at night often cures this. If not, our doctor might suggest an injection or even an op to release the pressure.
Feeling flushed
Question
A single glass of wine turns my face red and a second makes me sick, sleepy and faint! Why is this so common in Chinese people? Min Ling, 34
The answer
It's called the Asian Flush! You have an abnormal liver enzyme - one of the chemicals which help your body destroy alcohol. Waste products build up, leading to those pesky symptoms. It's most common in East Asians, but can happen in any race. So maybe just stick to one glass of wine, then move on to water!
Heely high!
Question
I've worn high heels all my life, but a couple of tumbles made me think it's time to switch to flats - but I just can't walk in them. What can I do? Lynda, 53
The answer
It's not surprising you find it tricky. You've learned to use your muscles in a certain way, and over the years there have been physical changes, such as shortening of your calf muscles. Wean yourself off with medium heels, and talk to a podiatrist.
