Every week we partner up with our sister magazine, Woman, to bring you expert health advice from This Morning's Dr Chris Steele MBE, health journalist of the year. This week he answers your questions about early pregnancy and breath problems.
The problem: My breath is sweet and sickly
My husband says that my breath smells sweet and sickly. Is this a compliment or could it also mean that something is wrong with me?
The solution
Many disorders cause changes in smells from our bodies. If you're a diabetic, and your condition is not well controlled, your breath will smell sweet, like pear drops or nail varnish remover, as it will if you're on the Atkins diet! Just to be safe, see your GP.
The problem: I'm pregnant - can I dye my hair?
Someone told me not to have my hair dyed if pregnant. I'm two months pregnant - help!
The solution
I've heard this but I cannot find any strong evidence to show that hair dying in pregnancy has any adverse affects on the baby, so don't worry. Some mums are ultra-cautious when pregnant and avoid all chemicals that could enter their body, but then they should avoid every item of fruit, veg, meat, fish and even tap water!
