The problem: My eyes are dry and irritated
My eyes are very dry and irritated, which causes me problems at work. Could this be caused by an infection?
The solution
Unlikely - infections usually cause watery, red, inflammed eyes. Dry eyes can be caused by working in warm, centrally-heated offices, or by conditions such as Sjogren's Syndrome - talk to your GP. Artificial tears, such as Systane and Hypromellose, available on prescription, can bring great relief to dry eyes.
The problem: I'm losing a lot of hair
When I wash my hair, quite a lot seems to come out. What could be causing this?
The solution
If you haven't noticed small patches of baldness, you may be experiencing widespread hair thinning. Hairs do die and fall out, sometimes a lot at the same time. Hair loss can also occur after pregnancy and during chemotherapy. An underactive thyroid, anaemia and other diseases can also cause hair loss, so see your GP.
