Why it's good to have chicken pox young???? Absolute madness. Get the vaccination. I had the virus twice as a child, and all the other typical childhood illnesses. As a parent now, there's just no debate - it is our job to do the best for our children. And its all so avoidable. Just look at all the worried postings on this site....I've got scars, can I go on my holiday, I'm pregnant and worried, etc, etc. There is no need for any of this.

For Rebecca - Hello, my name is Sarah - my little boy, Peter, who is 3, came down with Chicken Pox like you on Sunday. He is now covered from head to toe with spots, and, like you, has got them all over his face and in his hair too. This is completely usual with Chicken Pox, it doesn't mind where it goes! Unfortunately I would say that it is very unlikely that you will be able to go to your Fun Day on Friday as you will probably still be contagious as until the spots are all completely scabbed over you are infectious to other people. I would try to enjoy a few relaxing days at home if I were you, drink plenty of fluids, ask your Parent/Guardian to administer Calpol or whatever suitable pain relief they use as well as Piriton Syrup which helps to stop the itchiness. Peter loves having Calomine & Glycerin cream rubbed into the spots - perhaps try this to ease the itching also. If you know of any friend who have had Chicken Pox, perhaps you could arrange for them to visit you and keep you company - yesterday Peter had his little girlfriend over and he completely forgot all about the spots for the afternoon whilst he played! Im 11 and never had the chicken pox before I've got them on my body , and face in my mouth and my hair is that normal ?? im scared and i got them this sunday will they be gone by friday as im having a fun day at school on friday ?!

My four year old son has chicken pox, I also have 3 month old twins and naturally my husband and I are concerned that they too may catch chicken pox. Whilst my husband was discussing this with a work colleague she stated that if a baby has the virus before they are 12 months old they are not immune and do not carry the anti bodies and can get it again. Is this true?

my daughter who is 10yrs old has developed chicken pox for the 3rd time. She has the watery blisters all over her body. However, she has chronic juvenile arthritis and uveitis and is on pred forte eye drops and infliximab infusions and is on 15mgs of methotrexate weekly. I have today spoken with her rheumatologist and he suggested that i get from my locum GP some acylovir to aleviate her symptoms. I managed oto get an appt but he stated he could not confirm she had chicken pox and did not even take her temperature. I am concerned it will turn into something more serious. My 11 yr old niece has also got a confirmed case of chicken pox, we came back from a weeks holiday yesterday which we spent together. Are there any symptons I need to watch out for?

It has just been confirmed that I have chicken pox - I'm 34! I'm also 12 weeks pregnant. My doctor said that baby should be ok, but I'm obviously very worried. He has put me on mild antibiotics to stave off any other infection as my glands are swollen too. Any baby any advise or help??

Please help, my daughter has just started pre school and there is chicken pox within the school, this evening we saw a pimple on her chest with a blister and i think this could be the start of chicken pox but we are due to fly this Saturday to Gran Canaria, can you tell me if we will be allowed to fly. Await your reply with crossed fingers.

i am 22 years of age and suffer from serve acute asthma and am on long term steroids (prednisolone). my concern is that i have twin boys at the age of 2 and ue to the fact of them getting chicken pox, i never had. all my doctor tells me that if i become in contact with some one who has chicken pox to seek medical advice straight away. i dont know the risk or damage it can do, i dont know anything as they havent said in the 6 years i have been on the steroids.
