Norovirus or the winter vomiting bug

Winter vomiting bug

Sometimes known as the winter vomiting bug, nasty norovirus has been making its regular winter appearance. Nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea are the most common symptoms but you may have a temperature as well. The illness is not much fun but for most it’s over within a couple of days.
What can I do? With vomiting and diarrhoea, it’s really important to drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration, with young children and the elderly especially at risk. Oral rehydration fluids(available from pharmacies) can be a good idea. To prevent others from becoming infected try to wash your hands often and avoid food preparation. And do check our survival guide to Norovirus for more essential advice.
