Type 2 diabetes is more common in adults although it's beginning to occur in children too, and can be linked with overweight, sedentary lifestyles. Diabetes is a hormone disorder that happens when your child has too much sugar (glucose) in their blood. Symptoms include raging thirst and going to the loo a lot. Diabetes can sometimes be controlled by diet and lifestyle changes, or with tablets or insulin injections. Diabetes treatments are very successful and most diabetic children can lead full normal lives.
