Dealing with dementia and Alzheimer's

Dealing with dementia and Alzheimer's

My mum is 71 and getting dementia. Although there's no cure for it, the herbal supplement Ginkgo Biloba is supposed to boost blood flow to the brain and improve memory. She's started taking it and we're hopeful it will help. As a natural product it's completely safe, but I checked with her GP as it can react with blood-thinning medications.

When my mother-in-law was suffering from dementia, we found she was still very good at playing board games, which she'd always enjoyed. She may not have remembered who me and my husband were, but she loved playing chess and it was great to see her so happy.
