'Gallstones surgery was so simple'
Living with gallstones
'The pain in my stomach started suddenly when I was eating chips. Within weeks, it had become agonising, spreading to my chest and back whenever I ate anything. Sometimes, I literally couldn't move.
My GP thought there might be something wrong with my back, and sent me for physiotherapy. But months passed and the pain got worse, especially when I ate any fatty foods. I kept on taking painkillers, but nothing seemed to work. My weight dropped from 11st to 7st, and after eight months I didn't know where to put myself.
One night, at around 11pm, I was lying in bed racked with pain, when I suddenly felt absolutely desperate. I was rushed to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, where they carried out a scan. They quickly found the cause of my pain. I had such a bad case of gallstones that my gallbladder had almost rotted away.
It was a complete relief to finally know what was wrong. Eight weeks later, my gallbladder was removed by keyhole surgery. It was really straightforward.

first of all Hello, my aunt recently got a case of gallstones and we all were worried, that she may have some killer disease because she was in so much pain, but now even as i type this, she's on her way to theatre, to get them removed.
