'I thought my ganglion was a tumour'
Dealing with a ganglion
'While working at my computer, I noticed that I had started to get a dull throb in my right wrist. That evening, I noticed a lump about the size of a pea developing on my wrist, and started to worry about what it was. A physiotherapist friend explained that the lump was a ganglion. She said that, traditionally, ganglia were burst by hitting them with a heavy object. Usually, the family Bible! She said I could have surgery to remove the ganglion, or it would probably just disappear of its own accord in a week or two.
It caused me little or no pain before clearing up, but the lump was a bit ugly. I decided to just forget about it and not fret. Sometimes, however, I felt a dull throb again when working at my computer keyboard or playing squash. So to relieve the pain, I used Deep Freeze. Sure enough, the ganglion disappeared in just under a fortnight. And all without having to be hit with the family Bible!'
