Don’t let the cold weather put you off going on days out! In fact, winter is a great time to get out and take advantage of some of the UK’s best indoor days out. From innovative interesting museums to award-winning aquariums, we’ve picked 10 of the best cheap days out for families in the winter, which are either free or cost under £35 for a family of four.

Take the kids to the world’s only ‘submarium’ – The Deep in Hull – where they can get up close and personal to a huge, colourful variety of sealife. Or indulge their sense of adventure with a trip to Conkers in Derbyshire where they can test their balance on the simulated treetop walk and get clued up on everything to do with the British woodland.

We’ve also found some brilliant free days out such as Big Pit in Wales, where you can go on an underground tour of a coal mine, complete with helmets and head lamps. Also free is the National Rail Museum in York where train-mad children can find locomotives, steam trains and a whole host of interactive fun and games to keep them busy.
