Although the breathlessness that comes with COPD won't go away, I found that Wellness POWERbreathe (£44.95, www.amazon.co.uk) made me breathe easier. It's a ventilator used for sports training and it's really easy to use.

My dad suffers from COPD and one of the best bits of advice he was given was not to spend time outside when the air quality is poor. You can look on the BBC website, www.bbc.co.uk at the weather in your area and see how bad the pollution is on that day and if it's high, you'll know not to go out.
