Warning from America: this recipe is totally wrong. Here is how it should really work Take about 3 eggs and crack them in a bowl. Get out a fork and quickly use it to whisk the eggs (if the difference between yolks and whites is not easily determined you got it.) Get out a little vanilla extract, about enough to fill a baby's spoon, and mix it into the batter. Add a sprinkle of cinnamon. Get out some butter and melt it in a skillet, just enough to coat the bottom so the French toast won't stick. Take the bread and slice off two pieces: Challah bread from the local Jewish grocer works best, Italian and French breads are a no-no (too crusty.) Dunk each piece of bread into the egg batter and then put a slice into the skillet, one by one. Wait until each side is golden brown. Set aside. In a separate skillet take a few slices of bacon and turn up the heat on the cooktop to medium. For American style bacon you will need to remember that it cooks quickly: Wait longer that about 3 minutes and you're asking for trouble as it will get too crispy (chewy bacon is good too.) Once fried up place with the French toast. Drizzle top of French toast with maple syrup (do NOT use imitation and never, ever, EVER use Lyle's!) Serve up with glass of orange juice, garnish with some sliced bananas and you are done.
