Oozing with fresh fruits and alcohol, but so simple to make – this is one trifle you won't find at any kids' party!

Ingredients

  • 300g Madeira cake
  • 3tbsp sweet dessert wine
  • 200g blueberries
  • 200g strawberries
  • 200g raspberries
  • 500ml mascarpone
  • 3tbsp icing sugar
  • 2 limes
  • 50g light muscovado sugar

Method

  1. Break a 300g Madeira cake into rough 5cm chunks and place in the bottom of a glass dish. Drizzle 3tbsp sweet dessert wine over the cake. Scatter 200g each of blueberries, strawberries and raspberries on top.
  2. Mix together two 250ml tubs of mascarpone, 3tbsp icing sugar and the zest of 2 limes. Spoon over the top of the fruit and finish with 50g light muscovado sugar.
