What's my recipe book?

We know what it's like when you're browsing a site with as many recipes as ours. You find a brilliant recipe, want to make it again, but can't remember how you found it!

But we've solved the problem. Now, by clicking 'Save this recipe' or 'I cooked this' on any of our recipes, they'll be saved and grouped into your personal online recipe book. Mincemeat squares

  • Makes: 12

Fancy an alternative to mince pies? These puff pastry mincemeat squares are really quick to prepare - just unroll, cut the pastry and add the topping.

Ingredients

  • 1 frozen puff pastry sheet, thawed
  • 150g (5oz) mincemeat
  • 50g (2oz) chopped roasted hazelnuts (or any nuts of your choice)
  • Beaten egg for glazing
  • Icing sugar for dusting

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 220°C/425°F/gas mark 7. Have ready a lined baking sheet.
  2. Unroll the pastry sheet, trim the edges and cut into 12 squares. With a sharp knife score a border in each square and place on the baking sheet.
  3. Add a teaspoon of mincemeat to the centre of each square, brush the border with beaten egg and sprinkle with nuts.
  4. Bake for 12-15 mins until risen and golden brown

Mmmm . . . absolutely adore these! Dead quick and easy to do but the extended family love them. Homemade mince gives them that extra special twist. And we usually end up having them at other times of the year, not just Christmas. Feels a bit if a cheat using ready rolled pasty sheets, but they come out perfect every time! Thank you for such a fab idea!
