Shop-bought Bolognese sauce is simply no match for this delicious, extra meaty version!

  • Cooking time: 15 mins

  • Serves: 4

  • Costs: Cheap as chips

Ingredients

  • 1tbsp olive oil
  • 1 carrot, finely chopped
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 500g minced pork
  • 500g ready-made tomato pasta sauce
  • 5tbsp full fat milk
  • 450g pasta shells
  • grated Parmesan, to serve

Method

  1. Heat olive oil in a large frying pan over a low heat. Add the carrot and onion and cook for 5mins, to soften. Increase the heat and add the pork, stirring for 3 mins until it begins to brown. Stir in the tomato sauce and 4tbsp water and bring to the boil. Lower the heat and simmer gently for 5 mins, then stir in the milk. Cook for 1 min and adjust the seasoning.
  2. Meanwhile, cook pasta in a pan of salted boiling water, until 'al dente.' Drain and return to the pan. Stir in the Bolognese sauce and serve, sprinkled with Parmesan.
