This tasty strawberry, banana, honey and oat smoothie gives you a great, refreshing start to the day as well as providing you with two of your 5-a-day fruit and vegetables.

Ingredients

  • Handful of ripe strawberries
  • 1 banana, peeled and sliced
  • 25g (1oz) porridge oats
  • 1tbsp honey
  • 150ml (5oz) natural yogurt
  • 100ml (3 1/2fl oz) apple juice

Method

  1. Place all the ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend to a smooth, thick drink.

Nutritional information

Guideline Daily Amount for 2,000 calories per day are: 70g fat, 20g saturated fat, 90g sugar, 6g salt.

    Hi Happy Annie, Fear not! Your banana allergy doesn't need to stop you from making this smoothie. You can either double the quantity of strawberries or try a different fruit of your choice. How about blueberries? If you want to make your smoothie a bit creamier, add 100ml of skimmed milk. This should work for any smoothie recipe too. Enjoy!

    I would love to try this recipe but I am allergic to bananas. Any suggestions as to what to use as an alternative (many smoothie recipes include bananas!) or do I just leave them out?
