The main ingredient in any margarita is Tequila. There are many different stories as to where the drink came from but none of that will matter after you've tasted these delicious frozen ones.

  • Prep time: 15 mins

    plus freezing time
  • Serves: 8

Ingredients

  • 8 limes, plus extra to decorate
  • 8 tbsp tequila
  • 900ml (32 floz) lemonade
  • Caster sugar, to taste

Method

  1. Grate the zest of 4 limes into a shallow, freezer-proof container. Juice all the limes and add to the container with the tequila.
  2. Stir in the lemonade, add sugar to taste and freeze for 1 hr 30 mins to 2 hrs until slushy. Beat to break up the crystals. Freeze for a further 30 to 40 mins before beating the mixture again. Repeat once more, and then freeze until firm - preferably overnight.
  3. Pile the frozen margaritas into cocktail or shot glasses, and decorate with a wedge of lime.
