Try this homemade custard on any of your favourite steamed puds or it's creamy enough to have on it's own. And, worth the 15 mins it takes to make!

Ingredients

  • 400mlmilk
  • 4 black teabags
  • 100g sugar
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 4tsp cornflour
  • 4tbsp sifted plain flour
  • Few drops of vanilla essence

Method

  1. Place the milk in a small pan and bring to the boil.
  2. Remove from the heat and add the teabags for 5 mins. Squeeze and throw away the bags.
  3. Combine the milk, egg yolks, sugar, cornflour and sifted flour into a paste.
  4. Return all ingredients to the pan and warm on a low heat, stirring continuously until the paste thickens into a custard.
  5. Remove from heat and add a few drops of vanilla essence.
  6. Divide custard between two serving glasses and leave in the fridge to chill until serving.

Guideline Daily Amount for 2,000 calories per day are: 70g fat, 20g saturated fat, 90g sugar, 6g salt.
