Chocolate and caramel in one tasty bar - and it's a really easy treat for the kids to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 pack chocolate fudge brownie mix
  • 60ml (2floz) milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 egg
  • 230g (8oz) toffees
  • 390g can sweetened condensed milk

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C/350°F/gas mark 4. Grease the bottom only of a rectangular pan, 27x17x4cm (11"x7").
  2. Mix the dry brownie mix, milk, vanilla and egg with spoon. Pour three-quarters of the mixture into pan and spread. Bake for 10 mins.
  3. Heat the toffees in a heavy saucepan over a medium low heat, stirring occasionally, until toffees are melted then stir in condensed milk.
  4. Pour mixture over baked layer. Spoon remaining quarter of the brownie mixture over caramel layer and bake for 25-30 mins or until bubbly around the edges.
  5. Cool completely for about 1 hr. Refrigerate for easier cutting into bars. Store in the fridge.
