These delicious sultana scones are easy for kids to make - and just as easy to eat!

  • Makes: 24

  • Child friendly

Ingredients

  • 450g (1lb) self-raising flour
  • 110g (4oz) healthy spread
  • 175-200ml semi-skimmed milk
  • 110g (4oz) sultanas
  • 50g (2oz) sugar
  • ½ tsp bicarbonate of soda

Method

  1. Before you start, preheat the oven to 190°C/375°F/Gas Mark 5.
  2. Rub the healthy spread lightly into flour and lift the mixture to add air. This will make your scones mixture nice and light. Continue until the mixture looks like breadcrumbs.
  3. Add the sugar, bicarbonate of soda and sultanas.
  4. Mix in just enough milk to make a soft dough.
  5. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface until about 1.5cm (½ inch) thick. Use a pastry cutter to cut the scones into shape.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
  7. Carefully take out of the oven when golden. Leave to cool then enjoy!
