I was always shown to make the dumplings then break off not cut off, pices of the mixture, makes them more rustic :)) then put them on top of the stew and put the whole lot into a nice hot oven for 20 minutes, the dumplins come out all brown and crispy on top, wonderfully soft and fluffy inside, absolutly delicious mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm try it.
