A brilliant fruity treat the kids can make on Halloween - complete with bugs!

    (depending on how many 'bugs' you make)

Ingredients

  • 225g (8oz) frozen summer fruits, defrosted
  • 1 banana, peeled
  • 300ml (½pt) cranberry and raspberry juice
  • Aerosol dairy cream (eg Anchor iScream)
  • 1 apple, cored, sliced and cut into ?fangs?

Method

  1. Place the summer fruits, banana and cranberry juice into a tall jug and whiz until smooth with a hand blender, or use a food processor. (You may need to sieve the smoothie afterwards if there are too many seeds).
  2. Make the bugs following the ingredients and method below.
  3. Pour the smoothie into a tall glass, top with a large swirl of cream and top with apple fangs and bugs!

To make the bugs: Apricot cockroach: Use a dried apricot for the body. Push pumpkin seeds into the sides of the apricot for the legs. Use blackcurrants or sultanas for eyes Kiwi caterpillar: Using an apple corer, scoop out a bug body from a kiwi fruit. Use sunflower or pumpkin seeds for the legs. Flying prune: Use dried prunes or cherries for the body. Use redcurrants or dried cranberries for the eyes. Use green seedless grapes, sliced, for the wings; Blackberry bug: Use a blackberry, dried prune or dried date for the body. Slice up a kiwi fruit for the wings Buzzing pecan: Use pecan nuts for the body. Use cocktail or glace cherries for the eyes. Slice up apples for the wings. www.anchorsquirtymoments.co.uk
