We know what it's like when you're browsing a site with as many recipes as ours. You find a brilliant recipe, want to make it again, but can't remember how you found it!

Shepherd's pie with Heinz Beanz

You can't beat a good shepherd's pie and the baked beans in this recipe make the sauce even richer.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • 1 tsp curry powder
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 500g extra lean minced beef
  • 415g can Heinz Beanz
  • 100ml beef stock
  • 300g mashed potato

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C/gas mark 5.
  2. Heat olive oil in a non stick frying pan.
  3. Add onion, carrots, chilli powder, curry powder and mustard seeds and cook over a medium heat for 5 mins.
  4. Add minced beef and cook for a further 15 mins.
  5. Stir in Heinz Beanz and beef stock and cook for 10 mins until thickened.
  6. Top the pie with mashed potato and bake for 30 to 40 mins until the top is brown.

this is not shepherds pie it is cottage pie!! Shepherds pie uses minced lamb (hence the name shepherd) cottage pie uses minced beef!! Tut!
