This apple, pear and vanilla puree is perfect for weaning babies from 5 months. And you can freeze it so it's time-saving too!

Ingredients
Annabel Karmel's tips: 'In the first week of weaning, give babies solids at lunchtime, as in the morning they may be too hungry and in the evening too tired.'
- 2dessert apples, peeled, cored and chopped
- 2 ripe pears, peeled cored and chopped
- 4tbsp unsweetened apple juice or water
- 1 vanilla pod
Method
- Put the fruit into a heavy-based saucepan together with the apple juice or water.
- Split the vanilla pod, scrape the seeds into the pan and throw in the split vanilla pod.
- Cover and cook over a low heat until tender (about 6 mins). Remove the vanilla pod and blend the fruit to a smooth puree.
