What's my recipe book?

We know what it's like when you're browsing a site with as many recipes as ours. You find a brilliant recipe, want to make it again, but can't remember how you found it!

But we've solved the problem. Now, by clicking 'Save this recipe' or 'I cooked this' on any of our recipes, they'll be saved and grouped into your personal online recipe book. All you have to do is log in with your Facebook account to see them. When you click either of these buttons it will also tell your friends on Facebook what you've been cooking or saving so they too can give our quick and easy recipes a go (but you can turn this off at any time by visiting your 'My recipe book' page). These biscuits make a welcome change from chocolate Easter eggs. Decorate them with coloured icing and they will appeal to both young and old.

  • 100g (3oz) butter, softened
  • 200g (7oz) caster sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 300g (10oz) plain flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp ground mixed spice or ground cinnamon
  • 1 quantity of coloured icing

Why not make some carrot shaped cookies coated in orange icing too?

  1. In a large bowl beat the butter and caster sugar together until pale and creamy. Add the egg and beat until the mixture is light and fluffy. In a separate bowl combine the flour, baking powder and mixed spice. Add to the butter mixture and mix thoroughly. Add 1 tsp cold water to bring the dough together if you need to. Wrap the mixture in baking parchment and chill for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas mark 4. Line two baking sheets with baking
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 4mm (in) thick and, using cookie cutters, stamp out shapes. Using a palette knife, lift the shapes carefully on to the baking parchment.
  4. Bake for 1518 minutes, or until lightly golden in colour. Allow to cool on a wire rack then ice, as liked.
