Natalie Coleman wins MasterChef

Natalie Coleman was named the winner of MasterChef 2013 after a closely-fought final.

The 29-year-old amateur from Hackney beat fellow finalists Dale Williams and Larkin Cen to become the 3rd woman to be crowned MasterChef champion.

Natalie, who follows in the footsteps of previous female winners Shelina Permalloo and Thomasina Miers, impressed the judges with her final 3 course menu which included lobster, pork belly, a homemade scotch egg and a vanilla and chocolate panna cotta.

'She not only understands finery of great food but she cooks for the people, food that people want to eat,' judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace said.

'She makes people smile and she's not fazed by a thing.'

Natalie, who is also a part-time DJ, fought back the tears as she was given the prestigious trophy.

'This is probably the best thing that's ever happened to me in my life,' she said.

'It's like a fairytale really, the girl from Hackney done good.'
