This is a great recipe for making with the kids as it’s so simple and fun too. Chocolate and coconut make a great combo along with slow energy releasing porridge oats. They are surprisingly low in fat at only 6 grams of fat per ball, not bad as they are filling too so one is definitely enough. Serve with a cuppa and watch them disappear in minutes.
Ingredients
- 150g porridge oats
- 50g butter
- 50g caster sugar
- 2 tbsp cocoa
- 4 tbsp water
- Desiccated coconut
WEIGHT CONVERTER
Method
- Put the oats into a jug and blend using a plunge blender, this is just to make it a little finer. If you don’t have a blender you can rub them in your hands to break them up a bit
- Melt the butter in a saucepan with the sugar, cocoa and 2 tbsp of the water. Let it boil for a few seconds then pour in the oats and beat together.
- Add the remaining 2 tbsp of water and beat once more. Leave to cool enough for you to handle it and make into balls. Roll in the desiccated coconut. Leave to cool completely and eat with a nice cup of tea or coffee.
