Pitta pizzas make a speedy lunch or dinner that's really fun and easy to make with the help of the kids! If you want to get your little ones more involved in the kitchen, this is the perfect recipe. So little can go wrong! After a long week at work and school, what better way to relax with the family on a Friday night, than with a pizza feast? Ditch the calories though and opt for this homemade healthier version. Mix up the toppings or keep things simple with just tomato and cheese it all tastes great! Let the little ones decorate their own pizza with vegetables as a way to let them get creative in the kitchen. It's also a really fab, fun way to get them to eat more veg - make sure you have sliced onion, peppers, olives and sweetcorn on standby too, so they can use them to make a really colourful and healthy mini pizza.
Ingredients
- 4 wholemeal pitta breads
- 4tbsp tomato purée
- ½tsp Italian seasoning
- 4 slices ham, sliced thinly
- 100g grated cheese or mozzarella
- Handful of olives (if you like)

Method
- Spoon a tablespoon of tomato purée on to each pitta bread and use the back of the spoon to smooth the purée to the edges.
- Grate the cheese (or tear the mozzarella) and cut the ham.
- Sprinkle a pinch of Italian seasoning over the pitta and top with ham pieces and cheese.
- Cook each pizza under the grill for 4-5 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden. Serve.
Top Tip for making Pitta pizzas to make with the kids
Swap the ham for mushrooms to make it veggie-friendly and scatter olives and sliced onion over your mini pizzas too.
