As my son and I aren't terribly fond of bread but recognise the nutritional value (?) I have always used my bread straight from the freezer then allowed to defrost naturally on my counter, preferably in a poly bag. 20 years on my husband just won't think of doing this which means I lose a day of freshness, it really needs freezing on day of purchase. Sometimes I have eaten this frozen bread where it has only been out of the freezer for the length of time it takes to make a simple sandwich, ewww!
